6 WAYS TO RELATE TO YOUR PASTOR By Tommy Tush

1. Pray for them. Thank God on their behalf. Ask that God would strengthen them and increase His Grace on them. Ask that they have utterance as God opens ministry doors. Ask that God deliver them from wicked and unreasonable men. And that they will stand till the end. Pray for their immediate families. They are consistently open to attacks and criticisms. They are also held to high and sometimes, unreasonable expectations.

SCRIPTURES- Ephesians 6:19  And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

Col_4:3  Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:

2 Thessalonians 3:2  And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith

2. Communicate to them in material things. Give them gifts of cash, materials. Give them cars, houses, pay for their groceries, pay for their kids tuition, pay for their health bills. Handle their laundry if you can, fuel their vehicles once in a while, buy them lunch, invite them for dinner. They may not ask for it, but you will be blessed if you do it. God is their rewarder but he does so through men.

SCRIPTURES– Galatians 6:6  Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

1 Timothy 5:17  Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

3. Never talk ill of them. Be loyal to them. Shut down anyone who talks ill about your pastor or any for that matter. You are not their judge, every servant reports to his own master. Don’t curse the king even in your bed chambers. If there is any report of them slipping in anyway, pray for them. If its true God will restore them. If its a hoax, God will vindicate them. No matter what, understand that its never Gods wish that any of his servants fall by the wayside.

SCRIPTURES– Ecclesiastes 10:20  Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.

Romans 14:4  Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

4. Take their Advice as an Instruction not a suggestion. Obey them in the Lord. Don’t count their words as nothing. Yes pray and be led by the spirit but also be sensitive to know when God is speaking to you through your Man of God. Obey God’s prophet and you SHALL be Established. Only the doer is blessed. They are your shepherds and the scriptures says Your teachers wont be withdrawn to a corner so obey them.

SCRIPTURES- 2 Chronicles 20:20  And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

5. Be thirsty for what they say. Draw virtue from them regularly. Buy their books and CD’s. Many people are fond of buying CD’s and books from other Pastors and foreign ministers but not their own. Its good to read and listen wide, but Your word most of the time is in the mouth of that man who speaks to you always and prays for you and is PHYSICALLY there in all seasons of your life, from when you are HATCHED(birth) till you are MATCHED(married) and DISPATCHED(sleep). So desire to listen to him/her. Don’t let the grass be greener on the other side-seeing other peoples messages richer than your pastors.

SCRIPTURES– Jeremiah 3:15  And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

Isaiah 30:20  And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:

Isaiah 30:21  And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Isaiah 30:21  And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Jeremiah 5:15  I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending  them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me.

6. Be faithful in your service at your local church. Get involved in a team and give 200%. Be so dependable that your pastor can commit things to your hand and travel away and he is sure you will  keep the sheep. Be a SON not a HIRELING. The Apostle said Ministry should only be committed to faithful men. Have a good track record.

SCRIPTURES– Proverbs 20:6  Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?
2Ti_2:2  And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

In all these is God pleased..
